We bought a Tomtom Go 530 but had to return it within a week because although it says the road maps were updated to the latest, it was really outdated.
We then did a lot of research, compared it to what we had before in our Rover 75, and finally selected Garmin. There were so many models but in the end, what we decided on was:-
1. Price 2. What we needed. There were more expensive models but we didn't need half the things they included such as FM radio and so on.
From the moment we got our Garmin Nuvi 265WT, we knew it was the right choice. It was reliable, the maps were up to date and the voice was clear and we had a choice to change the icon, the voice, the view...it was just great. Tonight, it was dark and we needed to find someone's house - and it was spot on!

I bought this Garmin 265WT sat nav a few weeks ago.I used it when we were travelling to the opposite side of the country on holidays.It is a first class product and is so simple to use.Directions are clearly displayed on the screen with voice details on upcoming directions.I have it set to bring me the quickest route and it does this perfectly,keeping you away from traffic conjections.It also displays the current speed you are travelling at and the speed limit of the road you are on.Also the smooth mapping is first class,this shows you the exact point on the road you are at and follows your every move(this means it`s not jumping every 100 meters like other sat navs).A first class product,100% satisfied,the carry case with this deal is also brilliant,can be threaded through your belt and used to keep your sat nav safely with you where ever you go.

Really impressive... love the way it shows every curve in the road.

This is my !st sat nav, but I done a lot of research within my budget, looking at loads of reviews, so like them I hope this helps someone else.
All the kids that jump in my car say it's better than their dads, which are normally Tom Tom.
Looking foward to using it in Spain next year.
The bluetooth is excellent.

I have been wanting a sat nav for quite a while, but price and functions of satnavs delayed this. The 265WT does everything I wanted for the price. I don't favour one manufacture above another, but the Garmin 265WT is easy to use and setup is simple. I wanted some help from Garmin and they were polite and obliging. Only one thing I would have liked and that is a mileage countdown to destination on the map.
If you are like me not good with gadgets then I would recommend this satnav.

I bought this, my first sat nav, for a touring holiday in France and overall was very pleased with its performance. Programming it was easy and it took the stress out of city driving. I found myself inputting destinations mainly by means of the 'Cities' function which finds even the tiniest villages.

From Calais I input 'Annecy' by the fastest route avoiding toll roads and to my surprise found myself heading towards Lille but the route chosen turned out to be superb. The first real test came when we were directed through the centre of Reims (currently being dug up for the installation of a new tramway system). 'Madame,' as we ended up calling her, took us straight through, rapidly recalculating when diversions were involved. This took the worry out of negotiating unfamiliar locations. Later in the holiday she took me straight to a friend's house in Dijon that I have never previously been able to find with maps.

On the downside, the maps supplied are a little out of date and given the rate of French road improvements, this can (and did) lead to some confusion. Also, you may find yourself being taken down some very remote rural roads as we did in Burgundy when we ended up high on the hillsides on unpaved tracks through vineyards. In the end we decided just to enjoy seeing parts of the country we wouldn't otherwise have visited. Some commonsense is clearly required when decided whether or not to accept the suggested route.

Madame's French accent and pronunciation leave a lot to be desired and are largely unintelligible. You end up having to read the display to work out what she said. It's not a major problem though and provided endless amusement.

The traffic function is still a mystery to me as the icon never came on in the UK. It did in some regions of France but when touched offered no information. No doubt I'll find out what it does in due course.

As this was my first experience of driving with a sat nav I am overall very impressed with the 265WT. You certainly get value for money and I have no hesitation in recommending this model to prospective purchasers.
