I feel that this lens is great with its fantastic zoom and brilliant macro setting. This lens for me is great for nature and sports photography because of its zoom.
However when you try to focus it does make a slight noise so if your close to a animal it may get scared, but that happends rarely.
In conclusion i think that if you want great long distance shots with quick focusing get this, if you want a usm lens dont get this

It's hard to argue at this price. It's not the prettiest or smoothest zoom, but who cares what it looks like and you'll soon develop the muscles to adjust the zoom - and at least it stays on teh setting.

Remember to turn the focus on to one shot, otherwise it will continually hunt for that sweet spot.

Generally an excellent piece of kit, and well worth the extra money over the cheap branded options, and well worth the saving over the more expensive lenses of the same range. The macro is very good, but you need to move away to get a perfect shot. Not intuitive, but once you know, you'll rack up the results.
